Box league
Small boxes by level. Over a session of a few weeks everyone plays everyone in their box, at a time the two of them arrange; winners move up, last place moves down, and every league is set up around your club’s rules.
Built for tennis, and just as easy to set up for pickleball, padel, squash or any similar racquet sport.
One session, three steps.
A session lasts a few weeks. Then the boxes turn over and a new one begins.
Step 1: Boxes by level
Players are placed in boxes by level. A box can be any size; four to six is a common choice.
Step 2: Everyone plays everyone in their box
Over the session each player plays the others in their box once, at a time the two of them arrange.
Step 3: Top swaps up, bottom swaps down
At the end the top player of each box swaps with the bottom player of the box above. The app works out the moves; you confirm once.
Everything a session needs.
From the first box to the next session.
- Players message each other in the app to settle on a time, and once it’s set, automatic reminders go out before the match.
- Between sessions the app suggests who moves up or down a box, and one confirm makes the new boxes.
- Printable box sheets with QR codes, and a public results page anyone with the link can follow.
- Players enter their own results from their phones.
- A message thread for every match so the two players can agree a time.
- A weekly report for you, with results by box and who needs a nudge.
80% framework, 20% yours — courts, nights, divisions, scoring and rules are set with you.

A session in the life of a box league.
An imagined club box league, from the first boxes to the next ones.
Before the session
The boxes are made
The organizer creates the session. The app makes every match inside each box, with the day the session ends.
In the app: Session fixtures
The first day
Everyone hears about their box
Each player is emailed their box and their opponents, with a link to message each one.
In the app: New-box email
Through the session
Pairs agree a time
Players message their opponent to find a time that suits both. A copy of each message goes by email too.
In the app: Match messages
After each match
Results come in
Either player enters the result. The box table updates, and the box’s winner is marked once it is decided.
In the app: Boxes
Once a week
The organizer’s report
The organizer gets one email with the week’s results by box and who needs a nudge.
In the app: Organizer’s weekly report
When the session ends
The boxes turn over
The app works out who moves up and down. The organizer checks it, confirms once, and the new boxes are ready to print with QR codes.
In the app: Movement and box sheets
A box league suits you if…
Your players’ calendars rarely line up.
Each pair finds its own time inside the session, so there’s no fixed night to fit around.
You want players to meet their own level.
Boxes group players by level, and the swap at each session’s end keeps them that way.
You’d like movement without the spreadsheet.
The app works out who moves up or down, and one confirm makes the new boxes.
From an organizer and a player
I can’t imagine running a league of this scale any other way now.
Now everything is all in the app.
Questions about box leagues
What do you need from us to get started?
Your roster, with each player's name and email address, and how your league runs: format, divisions, nights and time slots, courts and rules. We set the league up from that, walk your organizers through it, and support you through your first scheduled week.
Do players need to download an app?
No, and there's no app store. HouseLeaguePro runs in the phone's browser, and players can add it to their home screen in a few taps so it opens like an app. Once it's there, they can turn on push alerts on iPhone and Android. Everything still comes by email either way.
Who can see players' email addresses and phone numbers?
You choose, separately for email and phone: everyone in the league, only players in the same division, or no one. Phone numbers start hidden from players. Organizers always see both.
How do players sign in?
With the email address on your roster. We email them a sign-in link and a 6-digit code (either one works), or they can continue with Google if that address is a Google account. There are no passwords. Only people on your roster can sign in, and there's no public sign-up.
